The Allied Road Through Monte Cassino
The Battle of Monte Cassino lasted from January to May 1944 and was one of the most difficult episodes of the Italian campaign. The Germans, taking advantage of the terrain and the system of fortifications of the Line Gustav Line, effectively blocked the Allied route to Rome.
The fighting took place in extremely difficult conditions, amidst ruins, on steep slopes, and under constant fire. Allied troops played a key role in the victory, including British soldiers, and above all, Poles, whose heroism and determination led to the breakthrough of the German defenses.
The symbol of this victory became the red poppies of Monte Cassino, a symbol of sacrifice, courage and remembrance of Polish soldiers.
What will you find in the "Battle of Monte Cassino" set?
Prepare for battle on the steep slopes of Italian hills and among the stone ruins of a monastery! The set offers six detailed miniatures that allow you to recreate the most dramatic moments of the breaching of the Gustav Line, one of the key battles of the Italian campaign during World War II.
